Laura Hunter Drago is an award-winning film producer, screenwriter, and occasional actress/model living in Los Angeles, California. Co-owner of New Girl Pictures LLC and Dragon Hunter Productions LLC, her award-winning feature film To the New Girl (2020) streams on Tubi among other platforms, short film, The Echo (2020) won runner up at the Coven Film Festival, and scripted audio drama St. Mary’s School (for children with the stigmata) which Laura edits, produces, and performs in, has become a popular podcast on Spotify and was named to The Mary Sue’s “Top Ten Horror Podcasts.”
After expanding into screenwriting in recent years, Laura won the Austin Film Festival for her Audio Fiction Script The Crime at Camp Ashwood in 2023. She has been a finalist in the Bellem Entertainment Fellowship with Stowe Story Labs, studied with Sundance Co//ab programs, and placed in numerous contests including the Top 50 of the Launch Pad Feature Competition, Semifinalist in the Screencrafting Drama Competition, Top 15% in the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Austin Film Festival, Shore, and Screencrafting Fellowship. Her thriller feature Kaleidoscopes is in the top 1% on Coverfly where it has been featured on The Red List.
Laura trained as an actress at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with the Atlantic Theatre Company conservatory program, and holds a certificate from NYU’s Film & Television program. Laura is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Women in Media, and Women in Film Los Angeles.
